Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Life Skills Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and possess a passion for helping others improve their daily living skills.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities in various settings
- Assist in teaching life skills such as cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene
- Implement behavioral health strategies to support positive behaviors
- Administer medications following proper protocols
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members
- Support individuals in activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Utilize special education techniques to enhance learning outcomes
- Proficiency in American Sign Language is a plus
Experience:
It is required that an applicant have a minimum of two years’ experience working with ABI clients within the community in order to be considered for ILST services (or one-year experience with a bachelor’s degree). If Allied cannot verify the applicant’s experience in our system, the applicant must produce documented experience such as a letter from previous employer detailing the position held, dates of employment and specific duties performed.
- Signed Documents: All applications submitted require a signed agency provider agreement. If the applicant works both privately and through an agency under the ABI Waiver, a signed Conflict of Interest form is required as well. Electronic signatures are not valid.
- ABI Informational Session: All applicants must have completed an ABI Informational Session with a passing quiz score. The date (or at least the year) should be clearly written on the application. ABI Basic Information Session quizzes not processed by Allied are not valid and will not provide adequate proof of meeting the service qualifications during a quality audit.
